Smart people are great at making wise decisions and looking out for their best interest.  Smart poeple prefer to make educated decisions based on reliable data and recomendations.  So why do smart poeple chose not use internet lenders for a great rate?  Mainly because rates can't be guaranteed and they change daily, but more importantly the lack of trust. The bottom line here is purchasing a home for most poeple is the most important investment they will ever make and it should be treated like an investment and not like buying a book on Amazon.com.  When you want someone you can trust ask for a referral and go with a local bank that is dedicated to you and your best interest.
