Fortunately, now is a great time to take care of it. If you're not sure where to start, use the helpful guide below to organize your home for the new year. Make a List: If you're standing in the middle of your disorganization, the task may feel too overwhelming to handle. Instead, start in one room, and make a list of each task you want to accomplish. Once you have that room completed, move on to the next room. As you break down the project into step-by-step tasks, you'll find the job easier to tackle. Create a Donation Box: You likely did plenty of holiday shopping online this year, which means you still have those cardboard shipping boxes sitting around. Challenge yourself to see how many you can fill up with donations. If you're having a hard time, think about the idea behind get one, give two. This concept states that for every item you receive, you should donate two similar items. For example, if you get a new shirt, look through your closet for two you can donate. Don't Forget Your Magazines and Books: Magazines and books have a habit of piling up around the house. As you're organizing your home, don't forget to cancel any magazine subscriptions you no longer use. You can also donate used books and magazines to the library, doctor's offices, and coffee shops. Host a White Elephant Party: During the holidays, you may have received a duplicate gift or something that doesn't match your decor. If so, gather a group of friends after the holidays for a White Elephant party. Everyone can bring a wrapped gift they'd like to regift and have an enjoyable evening socializing and playing the game.
