Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

When fall comes around, you dream of having a tasty pumpkin spice latte from the local coffee shop. However, you can end up spending lots of money on these lattes. Instead of paying for this beloved fall beverage, how about making your own? You can save money and adjust the sweetness to your taste.

Follow this simple and easy-to-make recipe for a homemade pumpkin spice latte, and enjoy it today!

Makes Two Drinks

Ingredients:
  • Two tablespoons of pumpkin puree, either canned or made fresh
  • Half teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, plus a bit for the garnish on top
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Two tablespoons of granulated sugar (which could be more or less)
  • Two tablespoons of vanilla extract
  • Two cups of whole milk
  • One or two shots of espresso (about a quarter cup) or one-third to half a cup of very strong black coffee
  • A quarter cup of heavy cream, whipped into firm peaks
Directions:
  1. Place the pumpkin puree, the pumpkin pie spice, and a generous amount of black pepper (depending on how spicy you want the latte) in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook for about two minutes until the mixture smells fragrant.
  2. Add the sugar to the mixture in the saucepan and stir. Keep cooking the mixture on low heat until the sugar starts to look bubbly and syrupy.
  3. Whisk the mixture with milk and vanilla, and gently warm it up to prevent it from boiling over.
  4. Pour the warm mixture into a food processor or blender and blend until nice and frothy.
  5. Make the espresso or coffee, and divide it into two mugs. Add the frothed milk and spicy pumpkin mixture to the cups, and top with whipped cream. Sprinkle a little bit of the pumpkin pie spice on top and enjoy!
Stock up on the ingredients for your pumpkin spice latte, and you can have one whenever you want.
