It's time to get out the bakeware and make sugar cookies for that feel-good flavor of the season. Here's a recipe for a basic sugar cookie that you can serve dusted with powdered or granulated sugar, or ice them with vanilla frosting and sprinkle nonpareils on top for a finish. Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups butter, softened 2 cups white sugar 4 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 5 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt Instructions: Cream butter and sugar together in a large bowl until mixture turns smooth. Beat in vanilla and eggs until combined. Stir in the baking powder, salt, and flour. Cover the bowl and set bowl in refrigerator for at least an hour or overnight. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Pour out flour onto table or counter and spread smooth. Roll out the dough on the floured surface until it's 1/4- to 1/2-inch thick. Use any kind of cookie cutter to cut shapes. Place shapes onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in oven 6 to 8 minutes or until the edges are brown. Let cool completely before removing from sheet. Source: All Recipes
