Motivating co-workers and colleagues isn't always easy. So, when it comes to motivating your kids, it's safe to say you might have your work cut out for you. Jason Womack may be the perfect person to help you motivate your kids to learn. For the last eight years, Jason has run his own consulting firm, specializing in advancing productivity and time management skills within the workplace. Prior to that he was a high school teacher. It's not a bad combination of talents when you think of the objective.

When it comes to inspiring a child to learn, Womack says a good way to start is by tapping their prior interests. In other words, use subjects, hobbies, and activities that already appeal to your children as a way to bridge gaps between their natural enthusiasm and subjects they are less excited about.

According to Womack, this is a highly effective technique for one primary reason. He states that very rarely do any of us learn anything fresh, with no frame of reference. Instead we attach our new experiences to older ones. Whenever these older experiences are negative they have a tendency to cast shadows. The key, he states, is to give the new or unlearned information a positive frame by associating it with experiences your children already find pleasurable.
