Fire pits and outdoor fireplaces are ideal for places that can get chilly but experience mild winters overall. Grab a few blankets and head outside to look at the stars and warm yourselves by the fire. This option still gives you the fire experience but costs significantly less than building a fireplace in your home. Improve Your Insulation. You don't want to rack up a massive heating bill because all of your warm air escapes through cracks and windows. Before it gets too cold, look for insulation gaps within your house and try to fix them. By keeping the air inside, you can stay warmer while lowering your energy bill. Cook a Warm Meal. Spend the day creating the perfect chili, clam chowder, chicken noodle soup, or other favorite meal to warm you up. Cooking gets you up and moving, creating energy and warming you up. Eating the meal will also warm you up, both the warmth of the broth to the feeling of the hot bowl resting in your hands. Keep Your Feet and Head Covered. If you want to stay warm this winter, invest in a good hat and pair of socks. When your feet are warm, the rest of your body tends to relax and feel comfortable as well.
