Muenster Burgers With Sriracha Special Sauce

Muenster Burgers With Sriracha Special Sauce

There's something satisfying about taking a big bite of a delicious hamburger and having its juices attack your palate. The best part is that you don't need to wait for summer to enjoy a hearty burger on the grill as long as you have a cast-iron skillet and a stovetop.

This recipe produces four servings. You might also consider making extra sauce to use on sandwiches, chicken, or anything else that could use some spice.

Ingredients for Sriracha Special Sauce

  • 1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons dill pickle relish
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce

Ingredients for the Burgers

  • 2 pounds of ground sirloin
  • Kosher salt and coarsely ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds or ground cumin
  • Canola or other neutral-flavored oil, for drizzling
  • 8 slices Muenster cheese
  • 4 burger rolls
  • Burger toppings, such as sliced or chopped white onion, sliced pickles, leaf lettuce, and thinly sliced tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. In a small bowl, combine all the Sriracha Special Sauce ingredients.
  3. Place the beef in a medium bowl and season with salt and pepper. Mix in the Worcestershire sauce, caraway seeds, and cumin.
  4. Form into four patties. Try to make the centers thinner for even cooking.
  5. Drizzle the patties with oil. Place them in the skillet to cook. Turn the patties occasionally, about every 7 minutes.
  6. Top each patty with two slices of Muenster cheese. Cover the pan until the cheese melts, which takes about 1 minute.
  7. Build the burger with the bun bottom, toppings, special sauce, and bun tops.
