By choosing the right smart devices, you can make your life a lot easier and more comfortable. Here are a few tips that you should keep in mind if you're ready to set up your smart home. Choosing a voice-controlled assistant is the first thing that you'll need to do when setting up a smart home. Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple's Siri are your three main options. Each system has its own advantages. Alexa, for instance, is very easy to set up and Google Home is typically very affordable. Siri is generally more secure for than the other assistants, so if you care about protecting your privacy, this is the option you should choose. Whichever assistant you choose, you'll need a piece of hardware that will let you control your system, which includes options such as the Echo Dot, Google Home Speaker, and Apple iPhone. After selecting your voice assistant, you can move on to picking out a few smart devices. For example, if your main goal in setting up a smart home is controlling your lights with your voice, you can purchase a few smart light bulbs such the Philips Hue. You can link these bulbs to your virtual assistant and then turn your lights on and off without having to get up. If you want full-automation, you can purchase smart plugs that will let you control power to the other devices in your home such as your television, floor fan, and more. Setting up a smart home isn't as difficult as most homeowners imagine. Once you have an idea of what level of automation you need, and what virtual voice assistant you prefer, making your home feel like it belongs in an episode of the Jetsons should be a breeze.
