Gluten-Free Pizza

Gluten-Free Pizza

Following a gluten-free diet can help manage signs and symptoms associated with celiac disease. This disease is a condition in which gluten triggers immune system activity that can damage the lining of the small intestine. Over time, this disease can prevent the absorption of nutrients from food.

This perfectly chewy and thick gluten-free pizza crust recipe requires no kneading. You probably won't even notice the taste difference between this pizza and a regular crust, and you might even find yourself adding this recipe to your regular meal rotation. This recipe takes about 15 minutes to prepare and 20 minutes to cook.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup warm water (between 110 and 120 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet yeast (1/4 ounce)
  • 2 cups gluten-free flour blend
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Place a pizza stone or heavy baking sheet on the lowest rack of the oven. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix the water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for five minutes until it looks foamy.
  3. Use an electric mixer to mix the flour blend and salt. Add the egg, olive oil, vinegar, and yeast mixture. Mix on a low speed for one minute.
  4. Use an oiled spatula and transfer the dough onto a piece of parchment paper. Oil your hands, and spread the dough into a 10 to 12-inch round shape.
  5. Bake the dough for 10 to 12 minutes.
  6. Remove the dough and add toppings. Bake for an additional 8 to 10 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven, slice, and enjoy!
