You can find over 170 private tree houses listed on Airbnb all across the country. A new take on the old tents. Luxury tents and tipis for overnight stays are available nearby both Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. Prefer a yurt? Check out yurt lodging options across the U.S. Various state parks also host tipis or yurts for overnight stays in Montana, Minnesota and North Dakota. Get off the beaten path. Hike-in resorts offer no road traffic noise to disturb your sleep and no light pollution to ruin your view of the stars. Georgia boasts the Hike Inn, five-miles into the Chattahoochee National Forest near the Appalachian Trail. Glacier National Park also offers the Granite Park Chalet and Sperry Chalet. The Appalachian Mountain Club offers a series of door-to-door hikes along the White Mountain trail system, with huts and lodges to enjoy along the way. Light it up! Northern California's Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel offers accommodations in four houses beside the 115-foot lighthouse. Cape Cod's Race Point Light Station and Michigan's Big Bay Point Lighthouse B&B are also popular. Or find a lighthouse near you through the United States Lighthouse Society accommodations listings. Ride the rails ... in your dreams. Retired cabooses and train cars are becoming beloved B&Bs and hotels around the country. Pennsylvania's Red Caboose Motel boasts 38 converted cabooses and rail cars. The Railroad Park Resort, just south of Mount Shasta, California has a variety of train cars, vintage cabins and plenty of RV and tent camping too. Go on location. Movie buffs will enjoy staying at some of the hotels made famous by Hollywood. The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan was featured in "Somewhere in Time." If you are into horror films, the three hotels that inspired or were somehow featured in "The Shining" include the Timberline Lodge in Oregon, the Majestic Yosemite Hotel in California and the Stanley Hotel in Colorado. If luxury is more your style, the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel is a historical architectural and film landmark that has been featured in numerous movies and TV shows since opening in 1954.
